    Alwiena arrived with her family at the Port of Napier, Ahuriri, New Zealand on the ship "The Friedeburg" on the 18th September 1875.She was two years of age.

    Alwiena married Francis Kemp on 11th April 1889 when she was 15 years of age and Francis was 26 years of age.
    The record of this 1st marriage can be found on the "New Zealand Birth, Death, & Marriage Historical Records" web site registration number 1889/1343
    Francis died in August 1889 and Alwiena moved in with his parents. Her first child Francis was born 22nd March 1890.
    According to family, Henry, (Francis's younger brother), was ordered by his father to look after Alwiena & baby Francis.

    Henry & Alwiena then had three children. The children were grown up and married themselves before Henry & Alwiena were finally married in 1939.
    This was because the law at that time prohibited a brother to marry his brother's widow. This law was changed in 1937.
